Except Martha was at least smart and useful. Rose's sole reason to exist was to serve as a Mary Sue who everybody loved (for some reason) and who was fixated on the Doctor (For a slightly easier to explain reason).
Martha's personality was kinda meh, but she managed to actually justify her presence. That's WAY better than Rose IMO.
Plus, she ALMOST had a character arc.
Which is why Donna is so awesome. She starts off an annoying twat, but she develops into a slightly less annoying twat with some serious character.
And Amy strikes me as how Rose really should have been done. Plus, it was nice to see a male love interest the Doctor wasn't constantly measuring dick size with.
