I would love to see this happen. Hell, if someone like John Bradshaw Layfield can go from being a career-long, mid-to-lower card tag specialist in a team that rarely held the WWE Tag Team Championships to headlining WrestleMania as the WWE Champion against John Cena, then why the hell couldn't someone like William Regal, who is just as good a talker as JBL was and a FAR better worker, do the same thing?
What happened with JBL was that the company got behind the man and pushed him to the moon. Maybe it was a sympathy thank-you push for being Vince's "enforcer" for so long, but what the fuck, the thing worked, and JBL became a legitimate main eventer (even if I hated his run with a passion). If the WWE creative machine got behind Regal and treated him as a threatening figure to the World Heavyweight Title division, which frankly isn't that strong right now, then I think it would certainly work.
