The crowds were still hot for Eddie as they were almost inevitably going to be until the Hall of Fame when Eddie was inducted, that point I don't argue. What was done with the reactions and how they were used for business can be questionned and were by many.

What I meant by "pretty standard stuff" was a heel saying something that the crowd would obviously react negatively to. In Heel 101, the first lesson they teach is that when the crowd is in support of someone (in this case, Eddie), you should run that person down to gain their disapproval (what Randy did). He was trying to strike a chord with his opponent and the fans, and I think that's pretty standard.
