The first 3D era systems are full of games like this. Back when magazines were still the way to go for information and articles, so I remember reading through the previews section of EGM and seeing some awesome-looking games, then reading reviews in later issues and seeing them get straight 4.0 (out of 10) scores and going "wtf what happen?"

N64, PSX, Saturn... even the Dreamcast. Back then games were relatively dirt cheap to make, so I'd always pray someone would rip off the idea and do it right.
