Basically, The Rock is still the biggest name in the business and him being on TV even for a few minutes is a guaranteed boost in the rating. His segment with Eugene was the highest rated quarter hour in the last few months, I believe. And fans still love him.

As has been said, he can't win titles, because its pointless to put a title an a guy who's only around at most a few weeks at a time. But he can show up, get someone else over, and still remain credible because he's The Rock damn it!

And in the long run, The Rock's action movie career probably only has 5-6 more years in it. So unless he becomes a serious actor , theres a good chance he'll return to the WWE full-time down the road. He'll be like 33, still in his prime, and still one of the better workers in the company.

Now shut up and stop hatin.'
Its true that he could come back if his movie career fizzles oiut (which I dont think will happen). He hasn't had any major injuries to speak of, and he's still really young, as we've seen with guys like Hogan and Flair, he could come back in 5 years, and still have a 10 year run.

However, the difference is, if Rock is making movies for 5 years he will have made more money than anyone else in the history of pro wrestling (except Vince), and will have no reason to go back, at least on a regular basis.

I think there is something to be said about the desire wrestlers have to hear that big pop from the fans, and perform in front of a live audience. But in his position say when he's in his mid 30s and and has north of a hundred million dollars in the bank (maybe more), why bother risking your health? Yeah I could see him doing a month long program form time to time, but I dont think he'd be like Hogan, coming back to be a regualr characetr on TV every week. He just doesn't need it.
