When I saw the Super Furry Animals in March, they had a continuous techno/dance thing going on for 45 minutes before they came on stage, with their video projection playong onstage with crazy cartoons, then when they finally came on it went into the song Slow Life, which is excellent.
But also, Gruff Rhys, the lead singer, appeared at the top of this big structure on the stage, looking down over everyone, then he disappeared before the vocals were due to kick in, and walked on wearing a huge crazy helmet thing with a big painted face, and he put the mic to the side of it, where the ear was, to sing out of it.
That was pretty good.
Just to clarify, unusually large heads, on small bodies, are comedy, and imagine a guy singing out of the side of his head.
