Problem is, the end result of this fued sees Orton winning.

This isn't "current IC Champ beats legit Main Event guy", this is "Randy Orton beats Rhodes, becomes IC Champ".

It might make the belt look a little better but how does it make Cody look good?

Once the belt is on Orton how do you shift it back? Have a rematch that Cody wins? Well that wouldn't give you the end result that is required (Orton winning).

Do you have Orton drop back to Cody then have a the fued capped off by a non-title match? That makes the belt look worse.

I'm all for the belt being made to look good but it's not gonna happen in this Orton/Rhodes fued. The best you can hope for is that the title looks good because Cody looks good by "hanging" with Orton.
