Whilst I agree with what people are saying about someone like Orton going for the belt, the IWC has been complaining about the belt having 'no prestiege' for the last ten years... never mind being held by Chris Jericho, CM Punk, Rey Mysterio, Dolph Ziggler, Jeff Hardy, John Morrison, Wade Barrett, Kofi Kingston, Rob Van Dam, Umaga...
No doubt having a top guy like Orton chase the belt will give it more 'star power', and certainly being left off of the last ten Wrestlemania's or whatever hasn't helped, but I think the 'prestiege' the belt use to have is more to do with a lot of us being young marks, and as we've gotten older we're seeing it for what it is, a second-tier title.
Hell, when I was 13, even winning the European Title would make you an instant superstar. I'm not saying the IC title was/is a joke, and I'm not saying they couldn't do more to make it seem more valuable, but to me, it's still as important a title today as it was 10/20 years ago.
