That comment about "the group that made wrestling popular" shows your age. Like I said, the Horsemen were more than just a little popular. As a matter of fact, at the height of Hulkamania, when mainstream fans thought the WWF
was wrestling, the Four Horsemen carried the NWA, and their drawing power alone probably kept that company profitable until Turner bought it out. And hardcore fans of the era truly appreciated them; all you had to do was look at who was on the cover of all the Apter mags to see who 'smarts' of the day appreciated.
And all the standard issue heel stable tactics (gang attacks, 'Dusty' finishes, group promos) were all invented or perfected by the Four Horsemen.
The original nWo were great and did big business. But basically, they lived off the heat created by Hogan's turn. Horsemen weren't gimmicks; they were three of the best heels in the company, one of the best managers in the business, all anchored by arguably the best worker of all time.
