I think the way they did the Terminator was pretty cool. Not because it's the best technology (Well, today's standards), but because it actually made the Terminator look more inhuman.
I mean, it's not the reason it exists, but it's kind of the reason I don't want it changed. Sometimes, limitations work out for the best. Sleek and fluid T-800s are far less creepy.
Though the T-1000 works as CGI because it works on a different level. Kinda the same way the casting went in a different direction.
