The Cable Guy was unfairly panned. It was nothing special, or anything.

However, what made it funny was Broderick's playing off Carrey than anything else. Most of Carrey's films get him playing a real dickhead, with a talented actress playing a stereotypical unappreciated wife role, in which she gives generic reactions to Carrey's tedious overacting. It worked in the Mask, but not since then.

And I forgot about Man on the Moon. It was quite good, but then Carrey was actually playing a guy who was funny.
