Also, there was an interview with Whedon a while back, where he said that a big part of the movie is how these characters get along and come to trust one another. A part of that story is how Widow and Hawkeye are soldiers put in a position out of their comfort zone, where they have to work with these heroes who basically just walked into a position that they themselves strived there whole life to achieve.
It adds an interesting dynamic that I'd much rather see, than just adding another powered female, simply for the sake of flash and style.

I'm fine with that argument, I just feel like she doesn't come off as someone who can do a lot of damage. If she did I'd be pretty happy. It feels like she should be on the support team and not necessarily the First String.
If the movie is good though, I imagine I won't care.
