Activision reveals more details about the upcoming Battleship game with the game having first person shooting levels and the game itself is a very loose interpretation on both the upcoming movie and the classic board game from Hasbro.
Universal Pictures and Double Helix are helping out developing the game with Double Helix doing most of the actual development.
In terms of storyline, the upcoming movie is more futuristic and sci-fi based while the game itself will barely follow the movie's own story. The game will have a completely different character be controlled who apparently isn't on the same ship the movie follows.
Quote:
The game will apparently follow a storyline wholly separate from the one that features Taylor Kitsch, Rihanna, and Alexander Skarsgaard fighting aliens (and also Liam Neeson collecting yet another paycheck.) Instead, you'll play as Cole Mathis, some manner of demolitions expert who is not on a battleship, yet is somehow capable of commanding a number of battleships while fighting off the aforementioned ocean aliens.
The game will split its battles into first-person shooter sequences and tactical "Battle Command" sequences, where you tactically position ships into tactical situations to tactically defeat the alien enemies, presumably while using tactics.

The game will be released initially for the Xbox 360 and PS3 on April in Europe and May in the US. A completely different version of the game will then arrive on the Wii, DS, and 3DS at a later unannounced date with Magic Pockets as the developer.
