Are record players worth it?

I am an acute art bug and like to collect physical copies of albums that I like. I am considering purchasing a record player (Jenson for $50 on amazon) on my birthday.

A lot of vinyl enthusiasts have suggested that the analog sound of records are far more superior to that of CDs and digital. This curiosity has let me to considering it for purchase.

Should I get a record player solely for higher quality music? Poll coming shortly.
