I think you should still have at least a chance of pulling SOMETHING off. Even if you went to chokeslam someone five times your size, only to discover that he weighs too much for you to lift, you shouldn't always just forfeit the advantage because of it (especially with how easy it is to do the wrong move in SD! controls).
Meanwhile, as far as I've seen, XP are non-transferrable.

I think the next game should have an in-between level for the weight differences. For example if I try to slam the Big Show with Kurt Angle... I won't perform a picture perfect slam like I would be able to on a guy like Chris Benoit. It'll be more of a "pick him up and drop him" kind of slam with sloppier form.
The one thing No Mercy did have over Smackdown HCTP is that if you button bashed enough you COULD slam a guy like Rikishi. Which made it a little more realistic as far as trying harder to slam bigger guys.
