The MITB could have been cashed in at NOC instead of Summerslam. That would eliminate the need for HHH's buddy to come out and make Punk even more credible instead of having him be the second to top "face" draw next to Cena.

He was buried by giving him an interesting storyline to work with while getting away from Cena/Punk, make him chase the belt some, and eventually make him the #2 man in the company and eventually become the #1 merch seller? They made it HHH/Punk because they realized Nash/Punk would be fucking horrible.
