Actually, that's pretty inaccurate. I know you're just trolling, but SmackDown!'s ratings actually
rose earlier this year when Daniel Bryan fully unleashed his heel persona. Editions of SmackDown!
without Randy Orton even drew higher ratings than ones with Orton on them.
SmackDown! did lull for a bit recently, but the entire format of the show changes heading into WrestleMania -- things become a bit more of a hype machine. There were times where SmackDown! was beating the 2011 average -- a year when Christian's reign, Randy Orton's reign and Mark Henry's reign all saw slight drops in television ratings.
And I'm not bashing those men -- I've enjoyed them all in the past year. Your bashing of Daniel Bryan and his relationship to ratings is completely irrelevant, though. Oh, and did I mention that although CM Punk's segments often drop-off with women and children ratings-wise, his matches with Daniel Bryan would often see spikes in the ratings about equal to that Cena and Rock's segments would get (Note: Not equal viewers; equal spikes).
Daniel Bryan proved to guys much smarter than you, Gertner, that he could handle being the World Heavyweight Champion and do a successful enough job at it. Not only critically, but commercially as well. That's why they didn't pull the plug on his World Heavyweight Title reign heading into WrestleMania.
Oh, and let's not start the "over" discussion:
If you are Daniel Bryan -- kudos to you, sir. You're doing a great job.
