So apparently there is going to be a qualifying round to the World Baseball Classic held in November of this year, featuring a bunch of nations that weren't involved in the first two.
The roster eligibility loopholes were the same as the Olympics - you're eligible if you, a parent, or a grandparent were from the country. However Israel has a nifty loophole to that. Apparently you're instantly an Israeli citizen if you, a parent, or a grandparent is Jewish. As such, even if you're actually 10 generations removed from living in Israel, you'd still be eligible for the team.
Kinda want to see Braun, Kinsler, Youk, and others wind up on the Israel team. Would be hilarious if they somehow wound up being mad good. Also Shawn Green's committed to playing for the team despite being retired for 5 years.
