In fact, I just booked an amazingly hot summer angle for the WWE (in my mind, anyway).
You do what you do above, and have Ryback beat Antonio Cesaro on SmackDown! one of these coming weeks. The next week, Ryback makes his way out to face three mystery opponents, but while he is making his entrance, Cesaro hits Ryback in the back with a steel chair. He beats the crap out of Ryback using the chair, and then yells at Ryback "This is all that matters to me! You beat me so now I'll beat you!"
The next week on SmackDown!, Cesaro explains his actions more clearly, and says that losing to Ryback is unacceptable, since he is all about winning. He then proceeds to beat four nobodies in a squash match, but not only that, an elimination squash match. He makes one submit to a cravate, and he pins another after a Ricola Bomb. A third is pinned after a Gotch Style Neutralizer, and then the last is pinned after Cesaro uses Ryback's own Shell Shocked finisher.
The next week, Ryback returns and wants Cesaro in the ring again. Cesaro appears and says that he will only face Ryback at Money in the Bank, and if Ryback agrees to another stipulation -- Cesaro can choose a tag team partner to face him. Ryback accepts, because he's not the brightest, and because he wants Cesaro so badly.
At Money in the Bank, Cesaro brings out Kassius Ohno as his partner. The announce team recognises him from NXT, but doesn't really know what to make of this. Cesaro & Ohno start off being tossed around a bit by Ryback, but the numbers gets to the big man, and he is taken down. They try their various moves on Ryback, but he manages to stay alive. Eventually, though, Cesaro manages to hit Ryback with the Gotch Style Neutralizer and he pins Ryback with Kassius Ohno applying pressure on the pin as well. Ryback's streak is over.
Also at the MITB PPV, John Cena wins the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. I know what you're thinking -- John Cena doesn't need it. I think the WWE should hold off on giving it to a Cody Rhodes type this year, however. Dolph Ziggler is ready, but I would have it look like he is about to bring the briefcase down, but Jack Swagger runs out and shoves Ziggler off the ladder, turning on his partner (the story is that only one of Vickie's clients could get in, and Vickie chooses Dolph). Kofi Kingston is also taken out by the Prime Time Players, who defeat Epico & Primo to remain #1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship. So John Cena is sort of third place in a controversial MITB. He bumps into CM Punk backstage at the PPV, and Punk asks Cena if he plans on cashing in after he and Daniel Bryan go to war in a Submission Match also scheduled for the MITB PPV. Cena says that he has more respect than that, and Punk will know when Cena is going to cash in.
Punk and Bryan wrestle a potential classic in the main event of the PPV (also, Sheamus defends against Alberto Del Rio successfully), and Punk forces Bryan to submit to the Anaconda Vise. John Cena comes out and applauds Punk from the stage sarcastically.
The next night on RAW, Antonio Cesaro & Kassius Ohno are discussing how they ended the fabled streak of Ryback last night, and it was just academic. They were smarter than Ryback, and just tougher. They bring up their history teaming, and they say that they used to be "The Kings of Wrestling," but since that's a dirty word, they will now be known as "The Kings of the Universe." This brings up CM Punk, who puts over their tag team work before asking them how proud they are to defeat Ryback two-on-one. "Pretty proud." Well Punk has a challenge for them -- CM Punk & Ryback vs. The Kings of the Universe tonight. At some point in the evening, John Cena also lets CM Punk know that he intends on cashing in at the 1000th RAW in the main event.
In that main event, Punk is isolated by the heels, but then gets the hot tag to Ryback, who absolutely slaughters the heels. Punk is knocked off the apron by Antonio Cesaro in a moment of slight reprieve for the MOTU, who are then again overpowered by Ryback, who looks to hit the simultaneous Shell Shocked on both guys, before someone hits Ryback in the back with a steel chair. It's Daniel Bryan! Ryback is only mildly annoyed by this chair shot, however, and looks like he is about to destroy Bryan when he gets low blowed by Kassius Ohno. Bryan then hits Ryback with the steel chair across the back a few more times, and then puts him in The "Yes!" Lock. Punk tries to save Ryback, but gets nailed with a Very European Uppercut. The Kings of the Universe and Daniel Bryan beat-down CM Punk and Ryback until John Cena runs down for the save. Cena clears out Ohno, Cesaro and Bryan using his MITB briefcase as a weapon, and then turns his attention to a slowly recovering CM Punk. The crowd goes nuts in anticipation -- will Cena go back on his word? BAM! Cena nails Punk with the briefcase. Cena tells the referee checking on Ryback that he is cashing in! Cena hits Punk with the Attitude Adjustment and pins Punk... 1-2-3! John Cena has become the new WWE Champion!
Some of the crowd cheers, and some boos. Michael Cole is yelling that Cena said he would wait. King seems to be on the fence, saying that Cena did say he would wait, but he has the right to cash in whenever he wants. The story going forward is that Punk always called Cena a phony and Cena proved him right. He doesn't act so much betrayed as he does feel vindicated in his war against Cena during 2011. Cena says that every Money in the Bank Winner has cashed in the way he did -- why should he be any different. He's no Superman -- he's just a guy who wants to be the WWE Champion and busts his ass every night for the fans. So not a John Cena heel turn, although it will get people talking.
Now, a lot of people might not like this idea, given that they'd want to see a WWE Championship match at SummerSlam, but given that Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H is going to be a big deal for the event, you could do John Cena, CM Punk & Ryback vs. Daniel Bryan & The Masters of the Universe, with the hook being the tension between Punk and Cena. You'd still have a World Heavyweight Title match on the show.
