It's not so much that, it's the fact that the default answer "to cure SuperCena" is a heel turn.

He doesn't have to go heel to change up his character and be less boring, repetitive, and predictable. Hogan's turn was kind of "what else can we do with him?" He had been a heel, but that was before he was a household name, whereas Cena's BEEN heel before while in the spotlight... that's pretty much how he made a name for himself. His face turn came because he was the hot new thing that everyone got behind (much like Ziggler, people want him to turn face SOOO BAD).

Changing sides is way too much of a kneejerk reaction. Sometimes it makes sense, but other times, you don't have to turn someone face/heel to make them fresh. It's not him being a face that has run its course, it's the whole "overcoming the odds, even when it makes no sense to do so" thing.

Cena turning heel won't fix that. And THAT is what people need to grasp.
