Nah, an online promotion wouldn't be fun in reality. You'd get every 12 year old with their John Cena rip off CAW or "Nothing but black and tattoos" CAW thinking they should be Main Eventing and just quitting when they get beat because their CAW isn't supposed to get beaten.
Unless the online promotion consisted of a guy running it and up to, say, 30 of his friends that he personally invites.
He then makes the card for TV events a day or two in advance, which sends a message to the ingame mailbox of that player, telling them the match, the day and the time.
The owner of the fed has access to who has won/lost and how often and can make matches based on that, if he likes.
A sort of "House Show" feature could be used as a "quick play" option, if you fancy having matches inbetween scheduled TV events, without prior organisation.
I'm not sure how you could work in the concept of promos or backstage scenes without it becoming a chore, so maybe it'd just be matches.
