This album makes MPP sound like Beach House - Teen Dream (2010, Pitchforks BNM, #5 record of 2010, a personal favorite and a true hipster classic that I only have an opinion on because I've heard other hipsters talk about how its song structures are really simple and thats why Beach House is good) in terms of complexity and song structure.
Pretty sure this is why it has taken me so long to wrap my brain around it. Each song has at least 5 distinct parts, each part overblown with dozens of samples that somehow work together miraculously. But even with each song snaking into a different shape every few minutes, they all retain a core element which unifies the track all the way through..
