Mick Foley 32 vs Frank Gotch 8
It was the legend Frank Gotch vs Mick Foley. This was Foley’s type of match as someone made this a barbed wire death match. Foley would assault Gotch before even the opening bell with a two by four wrapped in Barbed Wire. Gotch would eventually wrestle Foley down to the matt but Foley would manage to roll Gotch hard into the barbed wire. Eventually though at about the 10 minute mark Gotch would just get up and leave, claiming this match was unbefitting of a wrestler like himself. The referee had no choice but to award the match to Mick Foley.

Hulk Hogan 28 vs Kerry Von Erich 12
Hogan was in true Hogan form as he just dominated the man formally known as The Texas Tornado, no selling all of Von Erich’s offence including The Claw Hogan would easily take him down with the Big Boot, Leg Drop combo.

Benoit was in the ring ready for his match against Lesnar when all of a sudden Lesnar appeared on the Video Screen wearing a suit, He began to speak

A battle of family icons, Hart vs Funk, what a match it was, pure submission wrestling, neither man wanting to give up. Every hold, every move was executed in this match. The end would see Hart locking in such a brutal choke-like hold that Dory passed out.

Tiger Mask 24 vs Hayabusa 16
Tiger Mask vs Hayabusa, another Japanese legendary match-up. These two masked superstars went at each other like crazy, Hayabusa hit many a moonsaults on this evening but none of them were enough, not even the Phoenix splash would put down Tiger Mask on this evening as seconds after kicking out of that he’d hit the Tiger Suplex for the 3 count.

The Rock 38 vs Don Muraco 2
This was a true passing of the torch as The Rock defeated Don Muraco in this the Rock vs Rock match. The Rock dominated this match-up from the get go electrifying the crowd with his punches and charisma. He’d hit the Rock bottom but Muraco would kick out, he’d hit it again but Muraco would kick out, it would only be after a third Rock Bottom that Rocky would finally get the pin and the win.

Dean Malenko 22 vs Lance Storm 18
The crowd chanted EC-DUB throughout this match as both men put on a 2 man spectacle absolutely blowing the crowd away with submission hold reversals so unique that we’ll probably never see them performed again. The end would come with Malenko rolling through Storm’s Rolling Half Crab and locking in the Texas Cloverleaf for the submission victory.

William Regal 4 vs Shawn Michaels 36
Regal fought hard but HBK was all over him, high octane, high flying offence. Regal just couldn’t ground HBK in this match and as a result he would fall to the Sweet Chin Music.

Killer Kowalski 13 vs Freddie Blassie 27
It was Classie Blassie vs Killer Kowalski in a true legendary match up. Kowalski would come on strong trying to end the match early with the Claw but in the end after a referee distraction, Blassie would grab his cane, and as Killer locked on the claw again, wallop him over the head and steal the pin.

UT was feeling supernatural again as nothing the Sheik threw at him stuck. Basic UT formula followed and UT got the pin with the Tombstone.

It was the battle of Ace Crusher variant finishers, Stunner vs Diamond Cutter, DDP vs Stone Cold. I was a hellacious battle as these two former world champions went at each other. DDP would in the end go for the Diamond Cutter only to be pushed off into the ropes kicked in the mid-section and then Stunned. Austin would get the pin and the victory.

Jushin Liger 12 vs Owen Hart 28
A battle for the ages this match was, Hart vs Liger a battle not seen since the early 90s. Both men were in tip-top shape as this match was everywhere. High Flying galore and a few submission holds too courtesy of the King of Harts. The end came with Owen reversing a Liger bomb into a Hurricanrana and then locking in the Sharpshooter for the win

Raven 16 vs Randy Savage 24
This match was once again fought under Raven’s rules. Raven tried to take the advantage much like he did against Dynamite in the first round but this time it would not be enough. Savage was a pure force in the ring, kicking out of the drop toehold on the chair and even the Evenflow. The end would come with Savage body slamming Raven hard on a steel chair then going up tope and nailing the Flying Elbow Drop for the 3 count.

Jake Roberts 20 vs Arn Anderson 20
In the first draw of the tournament, both men ended up pinning each other after a brutal battle. This match saw 4 DDTs, two from each man and 3 Spinebusters, none of the moves resulting in a pinfall. The end came with a superplex attempt by Anderson, both men hit the mat hard and landed with their arms covering each other. The Ref had no choice but to count three. The highly attractive Federation President Lara ruled that both men would advance to the next round.

Jimmy Snuka 23 vs Lou Thesz 17
It was Snuka vs Thesz. Old school vs Older School. Both men tore up the place with reversal wrestling, Thesz looked to have the advantage early on by grounding Superfly but he would not be able to hold him down for long and Superfly exploded with a headscissors and multiple flying clotheslines. Snuka from that point on had the advantage and never looked back, he would score the pinfall with the devastating Vincent K McMahon Roll Up of Complete and Utter Doom for the 3 count.

Jesse Ventura 13 vs Terry Funk 27
Funk vs The Body. It was a back and forth match, Jesse even locked in his Over the Shoulder Backbreaker but Funk managed to squirm out of it. Not to be outdone however Jesse Ventura would later on kick out of the Funk Moonsault. Just when it looked like this match would never end as both men kept kicking out at two Funk hit the Piledriver out of nowhere and scored the fall.

Rick Rude 18 vs British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith 22
In a classic 80s style WWF match the Bulldog took on The Ravishing one. In a toe to toe fight Rude would get the upper hand in the early going with heelish tactics like low blows and eye rakes. But the bulldog quickly roared back with a press slam and a huge elbow drop, however Rick Rude would kick out at two. The end came with Rude hitting the Rude Awakening only to start to show off to the Ladies in the crowd. This allowed the bulldog to recover and when Rude turned around Bulldog was right there to pick him up and nail the running powerslam for the pinfall victory.

Jerry Lynn 7 vs Ric Flair 33
It was The Nature Boy vs The New F’N Show in this classical match-up. Lynn came very close a few times to pulling off the upset victory, even nailing his Cradle Piledriver. However at every turn Flair would kick out and by the midway point the momentum was all in favour of Flair. At 15:35 Flair would lock on the Figure Four Leg Lock and Lynn trapped in the middle of the ring would have no choice but to tap.

Ivan Koloff 3 vs Chris Jericho 37
All Jericho in this match as his speed was just too much for the Russian. Missile drop kicks, moonsaults, all of it just wore out Koloff and before he knew it he was locked into the Liontamer and was tapping out.

Andre the Giant 18 vs Roddy Piper 22
This was a battle of David of Goliathian proportions. Andre took the early advantage and absolutely dominated The Hot Rod. It looked like Andre would take this match easily but a costly missed elbow changed the entire dynamics of the match. With Andre grounded, Piper began to just throw lefts and rights at his face, Piper had snapped, the assault was long and brutal and by the time the referee finally got Piper off Andre (by threatening a disqualification) Andre was a bloody mess. Amazingly he managed to get to his feet but he was nearly unconscious. Piper seeing this jumped on Andre’s back and applied the Sleeper. Andre tried to fight but the blood loss was just too much and eventually he passed out.

Billy Graham 2 vs Curt Hennig 38
Billy Graham looked off in this match, we are not sure at this time if it was an injury from the previous match or something else, but Hennig dominated the entire match and scored the quick win at just 5:30 with the Perfectplex.

Taz 18 vs Brian Pillman 22
Another EC-DUB chant roared as The Human Suplex Machine took on The Loose Cannon Brian Pillman. Taz in the early on threw suplex after suplex at Pillman but amazingly 9 times out of 10 Pillman would land on his feet. Frustrated Taz attempted to lock on the Tazmission only to see Pillman flip up and reverse it into a go behind and then a victory roll for the 3.

Triple H 6 vs Bret Hart 34
In what looked like a repeat of Hart’s opening match. He immediately hit the 5 moves of doom and scored the submission. After the match the entire current WWE locker room, sans Shawn Michaels hit the ring and proceeded to beat the crap out of Triple H while Bret smiled and exited the ring.

Iron Sheik 5 vs Ricky Steamboat 35
Much like Jericho, Steamboat used his speed and finesse to dominate the match. He never let the Iron Sheik get near him; he ducked every clothesline, rolled away from every grapple and eventually scored the victory with the Top Rope Highcross Body.
