It's part of the camera that the film passes through, not something an actor would generally talk about but you'd hear the director or crew members mention it several hundred times to make sure its clean if youre working on film.

It's more commonly referred to as the "house" if youre talking about theatre ticket sales, have only really heard anyone call it the gate when talking about sports.
