Wow, they charge you even if it was a hardware failure? Christ, Microsoft didn't even do that if it red-ringed...unless it was outside their 5 year warranty thing at that time. Dunno if that's honored anymore...
But yeah, I'm not sure what their security seal tape looks like to be able to give you a definite answer. With the Xbox, it was in places that you absolutely had to break it to do anything. Even if only to paint the casing.
