They were going for different markets though. The reason that isn't a proper comparison is that back then, you could in theory make more money from a heel-loving "fuck the good guys" rebellious teenager crowd than from a crowd of children.

The fan base now doesn't inspire than same confidence. Times have changed and you'd be depending on bringing in a new crowd to offset the little Cena lovers snatching up merchandise.
