This seemed to be the case on PS3 in the past. Playing Battlefield 1943 or Uncharted 2 online always had you in with the french.

Theoretically you'd expect a game to look for worldwide games and then pick the ones with the best lag, which logically would be close to you, but it could be that they're just ignoring that and throwing everyone into a Euromix.

I have a PSN account that's registered as US to get access to their store and I signed in to play Blops 1 on it once. Literally heard a "YEEEEHAAAWW" over the mic, so it seems they're going for region over lag and so want to lump all the eurosocialists together. There should be no shortage of local people to play with. Is their maybe a setting to prioritise connection speed? I know some games have that.
