so I highly doubt it's a swerve play. If it is, then thats poor writting.

I see them getting away,(as the preview gave away) I see there being a possibility of Merle joining the group ala his brother, as he fights off the Gov & C0. I see that falling apart and Merle dies Or Merle goes off on his own - only to resurface somewhere else down the line in a new story arc.
