According to the NHL, a new CBA has to be agreed on by January 11 in order for a season to be possible. Regular season would start about a week later on January 19.

NHLPA sent what might be their last counter-offer to the NHL with the potential final talks occurring on Tuesday. NHLPA has until Wednesday to disband in order for the courts to become involved.
