I gave the demo a spin and wasn't impressed, really. The sword thing was cool for about 5 seconds and then it wore off. The free blade mode actually would probably have been a lot better if it was using the Wii motion plus, which I know is impossible. At least then it wouldn't mean being stuck in place as you used it.
Also was a bit let down by the cutting of scenery. I'd have though cutting something would cause it to react in a more realistic way. I sliced the cable holding a glass chandelier to the roof, expecting it would fall and shatter or, at least, make some kind of noise. It just boringly fell to the ground as a big stiff chunk and vanished. No crash, no physics beyond the falling. It was as if I'd dropped an empty cardboard box.
Even slicing a tree wont cause it to fall unless you cut it and the jump at it.
Combat did nothing for me either. It seems to be either mash X, mash Y or try and slice someone in half before someone else kicks you in the face. Even though I did manage to slice one guys face clean off, not his head, just his face, I still thought it wasn't so great.
I think I can safely say this game is not for me. I got to the Cyborg Panther Guy and turned it off. I'd take Snakes slooooow, sneaky gameplay over Raidens fast swordplay any day.
