Match 1
Bret Hart 36 vs Freddie Blassie 4
Bret Hart dominated much of the match but when a ref bump occurred Blassie reached for his cane. Bret however was one step ahead of him as he stole the cane from Blassie and decked him across the head, one Sharpshooter later and the match was over
YOUR WINNER: BRET HART
Match 2
Terry Funk 11 vs Curt Hennig 29
The rugged brawling offence of Terry Funk was no match for Hennig’s dissection offence. Hennig was all over Funk from the bell and it would be a quick Perfectplex at 5:35 that would get him the win.
YOUR WINNER: CURT HENNIG
Match 3
Shawn Michaels 31 vs Brian Pillman 9
Pillman fought hard, hitting Air Pillman in the first minute of action, however it would not be enough to defeat the Heartbreak Kid. The end of this match saw Pillman climb to the top rope to attempt a moonsault body attack only for HBK to hit him with Sweet Chin Music while he was still in mid-air, upside down as well. An easy 3 count followed and the match was over.
YOUR WINNER: SHAWN MICHAELS
Match 4
Kurt Angle 40 vs Tiger Mask 0
Tiger Mask fell quickly and fell hard, as Angle would nail the Angle Slam in the first 30 seconds of action and score the submission victory with the Ankle Lock.
YOUR WINNER: KURT ANGLE
Match 5
Arn Anderson 5 vs Chris Benoit 36
It was the battle of the Horsemen. Benoit vs Arn, the Crippler vs The Enforcer. One would advance one would not, and the man to advance was Chris Benoit. In the best match of the night both men went at each other like only two men who know each so well could. Both men seemed one step ahead of the other’s offence and it was only in a quick out of nowhere reversal of Anderson’s Spinebuster into Benoit’s crossface that the victory would occur. Both men hugged after the match.
YOUR WINNER: CHRIS BENOIT
Match 6
Chris Jericho 31 vs Jake Roberts 9
Jericho dominated Jake Roberts from the early bell, as Jake just looked tired. Jericho would get hit by the DDT but would amazingly easily kick out at 1 and shortly there after he would end the match with the Lionsault.
YOUR WINNER: CHRIS JERICHO
Match 7
Ricky Steamboat 19 vs The Undertaker 21
Steamboat would try everything to stop the seemingly unstoppable Undertaker, but like every man before him nothing would work. Dropkicks, headscissors, DDTs, not even the Top High Cross-Body would work. In fact, it would be in attempting that High Cross-Body that the Dragon would fall, as the Undertaker would catch him, spin him and Tombstone him for the 3 count.
YOUR WINNER: THE UNDERTAKER
Match 8
Steve Austin 20 vs Stu Hart 20
Austin vs The Elder Hart, a mix match of generations, neither man would ever get the upper hand in this match, as Hart was little match for Austin’s modern brawling techniques whereas Austin was no match for Hart’s legendary grappling techniques. In the end these two would fight to an astounding 60 minute draw, even a subsequent 15 minute overtime would solve nothing. The match was awarded to both men and as a result both men advanced.
YOUR WINNER: DRAW
Match 9
Mick Foley 26 vs Roddy Piper 14
It would be the end of Piper’s run in this great tournament, as The Hardcore Legend would take it to him. This match was a pure brawl as both men went all over the arena. The referee unsure of what to do, just let these men go, by the end of it, both Foley and Piper were bleeding profusely. The end saw both men finally in the ring exhausted and both near unconsciousness, Foley in a last ditch effort would somehow manage to lock in the Mandible Claw and send Piper into unconsciousness. The ref called for the bell and awarded Foley the match.
YOUR WINNER: MICK FOLEY
Match 10
Hulk Hogan 21 vs Jimmy Snuka 19
It was the battle of the 80s, Superfly vs the Hulkster. Both men would get in a fair amount of offence, with neither man really getting an advantage. It was one of those first man to make a mistakes loses type match and in the end it was Snuka who made the mistake. Snuka believing he had Hogan down, went upstairs and attempted the Snuka Splash, Hogan however would role out of the way and Snuka would hit the mat face first, one Hogan Leg drop to the back of Snuka’s head later and Hogan scored the pin.
YOUR WINNER: HULK HOGAN
Match 11
Dean Malenko 8 vs Ric Flair 32
In another great technical wrestling match, both men pulled out all the stops. Malenko looked to have the match won, not once but twice with the Texas Cloverleaf right in the middle of the ring, however both times Flair would crawl his way to the ropes. In the end Flair’s decades of technical expertise would be too much for Malenko as he would submit to the Figure Four.
YOUR WINNER: RIC FLAIR
Match 12
Owen Hart 27 vs Randy Savage 13
Savage would start the match with the early advantage as he would connect with vicious lefts and rights. However, Owen would fire back with a barrage of arial moves, some of which just cannot be described, after that flurry Owen would never look back and he’d score the victory with the Sharpshooter.
YOUR WINNER: OWEN HART
Match 13
British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith 14 vs The Rock 26
Davey Boy would dominate the early moments of the match with his superior strength, going as far as to Press Slam The Rock over the top rope. However the Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment today would not be denied, much like the previous match, The Rock would mount an amazing comeback and would eventually win the match with 3 straight Rock Bottoms.
YOUR WINNER: THE ROCK
