Barring a horrendous pre-season, I think Nassib will wind up being the backup QB outright. Coughlin does normally want a veteran backup, but he always says roster spots are at a premium and he hasn't carried a 3rd string QB on the roster in the past 5 seasons or so.

Actually, most teams with non injury prone, franchise QBs only keep 2 QBs on the roster at this point. I believe the thinking is the dropoff from starter to backup is going to be so massive that you're toast if your starter goes down no matter what. So you may as well keep a development project as the backup.
