I'm sure it would be a great one. Here's how you can get it started:
* Dean Ambrose beats Kofi Kingston in an impromptu Ladder Match ordered by Teddy Long.
* Now that he is a champion, Brad Maddox has something he can take from Ambrose if he doesn't play by the rules a bit. Maddox announces that if Roman Reigns or Seth Rollins get involved in Ambrose's matches, he'll be stripped of the US Title.
* Ambrose wins a rematch against Kofi Kingston and pins him cleanly with his headlock driver, which he can call "The Shield Breaker" or something like that.
* Ambrose makes a bitter challenge to Brad Maddox. "You always wanted to be a Superstar -- how about you get in the ring with me. I'll even put my US Title on the line." Maddox thinks about it and accepts. Ambrose pins Maddox with The Shield Breaker and now has two successful title defenses.
* Daniel Bryan and Chris Jericho have a match on SmackDown or Main Event or something like that -- face vs. face. They do what could be a televised classic, but then The Shield (who still have problems with Team Hell No) attack both Bryan and Jericho and lay them out (Kane is not there, it is explained).
* The Shield battle Team Hell No & Chris Jericho on RAW. Since they are no longer undefeated, you can have The Shield lose this match when Ambrose gets pinned by a Jericho Codebreaker, which the announcers make a big deal out of.
* Jericho makes the official challenge to Ambrose, points out the US Title is the only one he has never held, and all that. Ambrose accepts because he's no pussy. He goes on to defeat three former US Champions in title matches heading into the match (Ambrose is both a fighting champion by spirit, but he's also somewhat forced into such by Brad Maddox). He beats R-Truth, Santino Marella and Zack Ryder -- all cleanly to make it really look like Ambrose belongs in that upper mid-card bracket even on his own.
* It really doesn't matter who you put over at this point. Jericho would likely be willing to put Ambrose over, but if you did put the US Title on Jericho, you could very easily have Ambrose win it back in a rematch.
