Favourites:

Baldur's Gate 2 & The Throne Of Bhaal
I've had both the original and the X-Pack since the day they came out, and I still haven't gotten bored of it. Add a thriving mod community which includes a former developer and some very good writers, and its very difficult to put down.

Planescape Torment
Its what every RPG should strive to be, as it has absolutly everything. The dialogue and storyline is one of the best I have ever seen in a computer game, and its very open ended. The way the class system was used this time was brilliant too. Rather than starting off in a class, you learn it through the game. Oh, and Morte reminds me so much of Murray from Monkey Island.

Final Fantasy 9
I loved this game so much. The characters are completly original, every town completly different from the next, the storyline is great, it has an fantastic villain, and some of the characters are very funny.

Dissappointments

Final Fantasy X
Take a FF game - Remove any signs of a good story, change all the characters to become very annoying and bland, make the game completly linear and add a terrible minigame called Blitzball, and you have FFX. I don't understand why this is considered the best FF game by some. Im hoping Square don't use the same formula for FFXII.

Metal Gear Solid : The Twin Snakes
I thought this was going to be a very good update of an old game. Not the case apparently. They brought the voice actors back to re-record their old lines and some new ones, except it didn't sound nearly as good as before. The developers hyped the fact that there was going to be tons and tons of extras, but most of them were in the original. Don't even let me get started on what happened to the cut scenes.

Deus Ex 2
Well, I really did like this game. But I loved the original more. They took so much of what made the original so good, out of the sequel. Granted, there was always at least 2 ways to get past a situation, and the plot was very good, but I just think it could have been so much more. Universal ammo thing sucked too. It meant that if you ran out of ammo for one gun, you've run out of ammo for all of them.
