I think it was interesting that the whole rise to Dexter not needing to kill/being happier was a set up for him to realize that no matter what people around him are in danger and whenever he doesn't do "his part", people he loves get hurt or killed so he decided for the best. But I do wish this show was a few episodes longer or even a season.
Hoping the end meant that they really did leave open for continuation/spin off.
