AJ was the wrong pick to win the BFG Series, in my opinion. I know he was the clear choice and there's been a story of him not being able to challenge and all that, but I think the best option would have actually been Austin Aries.
Bobby Roode is a heel, so he was out from the start. Magnus had a really strong start and has come along nicely, but something about "Bully Ray vs. Magnus" just doesn't sound right for their biggest PPV of the year. AJ Styles getting the title shot was just too predictable, and AJ's been kind of flip-flop as a character recently. If they went with Austin Aries, they'd remind people that he exists, that's he's a great worker and promo (if undersized), but has got that little bit of oomph that makes him more intriguing in the main event scene than Chris Sabin, for instance.
But now that AJ Styles is in the match, I'm kind of hoping that Magnus costs him the match. I know it's their WrestleMania and all that shit, but I think TNA needs some feuds to try and draw people in. I think Magnus getting a bit pissed off at AJ beating him in the BFG Series and thus costing him his World Title opportunity would make a simple yet compelling story moving forward, while they work out whether or not Styles is leaving or staying.
Ray could gloat about his success and then move into a program with some other babyface. A pissed-off Joe could work; Aries has already been mentioned; maybe they could re-hire Ken Anderson and give him another run? I'm spitballing here.
