Your last sentence is the only one that I agree with. Throwing a challenger in that "most fans have never really seen" is a bad idea. Having him win and lose some matches "so the fans are kinda iffy on him" is a bad idea. Having a challenger do nothing to earn a shot is might devalue the title in the eyes of the smarks. It's one big, bad idea.

Maybe I do to change up the iffy part and have him win solid victories over some people. I just think it would create the ultimate underdog match. The fans would buy the PPV because once they see what he can do they'll fall in love with him.
