It's not a license thing, I'm sure no company would turn down an invitation to have a character appear in a Smash Bros game. The elephant in the room is how nobody gives a fuck about either franchise anymore. The recent DD reboot was kinda ass and went under the radar and Battletoads might as well be Gex (look him up youngins).
