"compete" no, because WWE is a giant worldwide steamrolling machine that is what 95% of people think of when they think pro wrestling. Do equal to/better than TNA and provide a viable alternative? Absolutely. The last few months in WCW were far from terrible creatively and in-ring action wise and they were "heading in the right direction".
