But just looking at the angle, I dont see how Matt can come out looking strong. First, his girl slept with Kane so Kane wouldn't beat him up. That makes Matt look like the biggest pussy this side of Disco Inferno. On top of that, Matt got played by buying Lita a ring, only to get humiliated on national TV (again not a babyface move). If the baby ends up being Kane's and he stays with Lita, he also looks like a punk because he's accepting the cheating and raising another dude's kid. And even if the baby is him, bottom line is Lita still slept with Kane to protect him. This idea that people will get behind Matt for being a stand up guy is false, there's no past evidence of fans getting behind guys who get played. Thats why Hunter would never let Angle steal Steph from him, because he knew it would make him look like a punk.

If he goes on a killing spree in the back, meh that will only go so far because we all know they wont push him to the top. So I see this angle as a way to actually bury Matt, while still keeping Kane in a key TV angle so he can stay hot for his movie (whenever that gets made).
I read the hardys book a few weeks ago, and I didn't think there was anything particularly anti-WWE in it. I thought it was a bit messed up here and there, but that was more the writing style than anything else, but I didn't know Vince was pissed about it.
More details on that one, if you don't mind.......

As for Matt Hardy looking strong coming out of this storyline, it all depends how he reacts (as a character).
He can either be crushed, enraged or hide.
If he has one match against Kane and then that's it, then that makes no sense. Proposing to the girl you love, and expecting your first child are some of the biggest things that can ever happen to a person, and to have all that taken away from you on national TV would do some serious psychological damage to anyone.
Which brings me back to the crushed, enraged or hide.

ENRAGED:
Now if Matt Hardy was enraged, out for vengeance, and wanting to kick Kane's ass, he would be trying to get to him at every opportunity, and if he was enraged enough, he would kick the ass of anyone trying to stop him.
He would want nothing to do with Lita, and if Bischoff was trying to protect Kane by setting other wrestlers on him to protect Kane, wouldn't Matt Hardy go for them in order to get to Kane.
This is the kind of storyline that the fans would love, and they would be behind Hardy right through it.

CRUSHED:
Matt jobbs, does nothing except whine and cry. Career over.
There would be no comeback for him from this. He's jobbed and jobbed since he came back to RAW, moving him to Smackdown would do nothing for him, and the crowd would rightfully assume that his character has become a total pussy. No audience response. Ever.

HIDE:
Matt Hardy disappears from TV, to 'emotionally recover'. When he comes back people will still remember what happened, and think he's a big wuss.

I still say enraged is the way to go with Matt Hardy, and they can still build Kane's credibility while this is going on. He can repeatedly beat down Hardy whenever the 2 meet, but Hardy will gain because he won't quit.

CyNick - what's this about Matt Hardy needing surgery?
