I don't think it is a given. Daniel Bryan has surged into popularity a large part due to his ability to tell stories in the ring. This isn't a "WORKRATE > ALL!" point, but rather one of Bryan's ability to envoke sympathies with his presence and ability. His personality is a little larger than, say, Rey Mysterio's, and I think the WWE have surely learned a lesson about how to book a vulnerable World Heavyweight Champion from Rey's run.
JBL used to hit the nail on the head with Rey Mysterio "He's not an underdog! He's the World Heavyweight Champion!" The WWE best remember that when Bryan wins the title. I'm looking forward to a reign of decent length for Bryan. I'm looking forward to seeing him get victories against Randy Orton, Batista, John Cena and Triple H in his reign. I'm also hoping that if we get another outside WrestleMania match from Undertaker, he gets into the ring with Bryan and tests him as champion. Bryan beating Taker would be huge for him, even if it's not at WrestleMania.
I'm not sure if they go with Bray Wyatt or Brock Lesnar as the guy to beat Bryan, but I could see either winning the title off him. If Kurt Angle looks to get back into the WWE when his TNA contract expires, I could see Angle very quickly winning the WWE World Title off whoever is champion, holding it until WrestleMania 31, where he drops it to the 2015 Royal Rumble Winner, Daniel Bryan.
