Yeah, what I got from that second bit is that people fear her because she is ruthless and makes up RUMORS.
If she was as obsessively covered by the media as that article claims, then people would recognize the name. That alone is counter-intuitive to the point they made just a few sentences before about how no one outside of Hollywood knows the name.
