The FG trans episode and the other episode featuring Quagmires trans dad go beyond typical FG humour.
*When she first appears as male, she is acting in a massively stereotypically gay way, wrongly linking gay and being trans together.
*It's insinuated she sleeps around.
*The entire transition takes something crazy like an hour.
*Everytime she is spoken to or spoken about, she is called a monster, a freak, not a real women and so on. Every character treats her like shit.
*Brian called her "it" and then threw up for 40 seconds uninterrupted when he found out she was born male and he had slept with her.
*He then compared being trans to being a sex offender "Aren't they supposed to notify the neighbourhood?! That's the way it works!"
The character is nothing but a punching bag. What really floors me is Seth McFarlane claims he genuinely thought transpeople would like it.

So no I don't think it's going out of its way to offense any one group.

I've had that discussion with a specialist I see. (TV etc leaves out the years or psychological analysis required before you can transition.)
I brought up a few bad news stories I had read and he mentioned that being in a certain group means you'll see more of it, meaning you'll see more of the bad stuff. So, you're probably right about me noticing more because it's directly effecting me.
I still think they dragged it on (no pun intended) a little too much. I wouldn't expect them not to take a jab at transpeople because I do actually believe in the idea of "if we can joke about those people, we can joke about these people." with comedy but there are multiple jabs and some are a little too hard. I'm not as sensitive as many transpeople are. I can't recall or imagine another group they jabbed so often in a single game.
