I find that precise strikes do more damage than strikes with hard modifiers. Unless the opponent has zero, or next to zero stamina, I throw normals and it fares quite well.
Same with takedowns - wait for low stamina. When they have low stamina the likelihood of them sprawling is much, MUCH lower.
The thing that is most wonky for me is the submission system. It works and all, just feels.... cluttered or something.
