Though in all seriousness, I get the feeling that AJ is being used to give Paige some sort of rub. (Cue innuendo posts about AJ rubbing Paige)

Pretty much the same thing they did with Sin Cara when they realised that he was a failure too. They paired him up with Cena for a few matches with hopes that some of what Cena had would rub off on Sin Cara.
