Actually, what happened, I suspect, is that my device, a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, decided it had to upgrade its firmware from v 4.1 or 4.1.1 or something, to v 4.1.2, which evidently cut out my old screen cap shortcut. So I downloaded this free screenshot/screen capture app, and looks like by the results it works, which indeed makes me very happy.

A little stupid that I have to actually launch the app and tap a "Start capture" to do so, but it's a small price to pay.
