I don't think it lost him respect so much as it came off an obvious attempt by corporate to smooth things over without any action. We've all had jobs where we roll our guys and get annoyed at management feeding us bullshit about how much the love and appreciate us before asking us to work a holiday or something. Triple H is having to do the impossible and that's be a part of "the office" and still be "one of the boys".
