And I'm wondering if this is the logic that the WWE is using (i.e. where there is smoke there is fire. Any 'news' is good news).
One thing that strikes me is that #CancelWWENetwork started trending after the Royal Rumble, but a few days later, the WWE announced that they officially hit the 1 million subscriber target.
A few years ago when CM Punk defeated Cena at Summerslam, the WWE decided to give Punk the ball. Punk's face pops started to dwindle over time, and it ultimately resulted in him turning heel again. I'm not sure if the Punk example is the greatest example, as there was some questionable booking decisions as well (i.e. Punk jobbing to Triple H), but that could be an example of someone being 'given the world and dying down too fast.'
