The point of the project is that adultening children's shows doesn't work. It's not supposed to mix well. Why would he choose something that could easily be made to be more adult without much problems?

You don't seem to get it. He wasn't trying to make a good adult Power Rangers. He was saying that it's stupid to try to do it. It's a kids show. It's not meant to be dark like this.
