It'd get the WWE and the Network some good press, and it allows the WWE to make more money off their new platform. If people have the WWE Network, they are presumably using it. Most people would accept that the amount of content you get is under-priced, and people have no problem paying for good content. A hike up of the entire Network might scare people off, and people might get upset if all PPVs suddenly come with an extra cost, but doing special shows or special matches and having a small cost applied to them could bring in the WWE a lot of addition funding.
Imagine if Dean Ambrose won the IC Title and then his first wish as champion was to challenge Chris Jericho -- one of the greatest champions of all-time -- to a match in Winnipeg. Promote that, have it take place at a house show, slap a price tag on it, and reap in the benefits. People have the Network to use it. If just half of the Network subscribers would pay $2 to see Jericho vs. Ambrose, then that's $1,000,000 cleared right there.
